Poole's Rock 2005

Hunter Valley Chardonnay

POOLE'S Rock proprietor David

Clarke rates this the best wine he has

produced and it certainly is a beauty.

It has enticing aromas of melon and

cashews and shows elegant white

peach flavour on the front of the

palate. The middle palate brings forth

elements of ruby grapefruit, shortbread

and supple vanillin oak and the finish

features crisp flinty acid.

It would be perfect with mussels with

saffron sauce, crab timbales or myrtlecrusted

salmon fillets with lemonbuttered

papardelle.

Ageing: eight years

Rating: *****
